Oklahoma Caring Foundation

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Oklahoma and the Oklahoma Caring Foundation partnered to create the mobile Caring Van Program, which provides free HPV immunization vaccines to qualified children. Since the program was created, thousands of Oklahoma children have been vaccinated.

Tulsa Health Department

Licensed nurses from the Tulsa Health Department provide free HPV immunizations to qualified children across the state. Since the Caring Van Program was created, thousands of Oklahoma children have been vaccinated.

Oklahoma Southern Plains Tribal Health Board

The Southern Plains Tribal Health Board (SPTHB) Tribal Epidemiology Center received a Caring Van from the Oklahoma Caring Foundation and funding from the CDC for their own program. Tribal Epidemiology Center Staff use the mobile unit to provide preventative screenings and education to tribal members in the state. The Caring Van also makes appearances at festivals and health fairs throughout the year.

Oklahoma HPV Summit

The American Cancer Society in Oklahoma and the Stephenson Cancer Center partnered on the state’s first-ever Oklahoma HPV Summit, which took place on January 24, 2020. The event targeted providers, healthcare professionals, and stakeholders from Oklahoma to spread the message that HPV vaccination is cancer prevention.

Oklahoma State Immunization Information System

The Oklahoma State Immunization Information System (OSIIS) is operated by the Oklahoma Department of Health and keeps updated immunization records for all patients of participating providers. The OSIIS was transferred to an enhanced operating system in the Fall of 2020. Caring Van staff also utilize the OSIIS to stay informed about children’s medical records.

HPV Vaccine Is Cancer Prevention

As a part of the CDC HPV Vaccine Is Cancer Prevention campaign, the Oklahoma State Department of Health compiled an HPV Champion Toolkit and other CDC resources including an HPV fact sheet, and webpages for  HPV Vaccine Information for Young Women , Outreach to Clinicians and Healthcare Professionals.

Oklahoma Vaccines for Children Program

The Oklahoma State Department of Health Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program receives federal funding to provide vaccines at little or no cost for qualified children.
